On May 1st, 2018 the Indian Valley YMCA hosted a family night called " Out of this World Family Night". Imani Ariana was the highlight of this event. It was indeed an out of this world family, fun-filled night! We were overwhelmed by the awesome work put into this event by Katie Riordan, and her fellow staff members. Katie Riordan is the School Age Programs Coordinator of Indian Valley YMCA. The YMCA is a charitable association that host various programs such as before and after-school programs, that promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibilities. In an effort to educate families about the solar system in a fun way, they hosted fun and creative games such as planet bingo. We had lively kids pop music and some delicious cupcakes and snacks all handmade by Ms. Roirdan and her staff. The highlight of the night was storytime with Imani Ariana where she read her growing wildly popular book, Disco Balls of the Universe. We cannot express enough how grateful we are for this opportunity. It exceeded our expectations. Katie Riordan's goal was to educate the children about the solar system, but also to recognize Imani as a child author in an effort to demonstrate that they are not too young to write their own books or achieve their goals.
The second edition of the 'Out of the World Family Night' was on May 18th at the Indian Valley YMCA. It was loads of fun and hands-on planetarium building experience for the families that attended. Here are some images captured and shared on Imani's Instagram page.
